Full Name:: Sara Spink
Narrative:: What better way to kick off a long weekend than joining us for an easy paddle on the Tualitin River? We were looking to get on the water but avoid motorized watercraft. We will be making a bit of an early start since it is a holiday weekend and I do expect other kayakers and paddleboarders out on the river. This way you will also be able to have your afternoon free!

We will be putting in and taking out at Rood Bridge park, where we can have an optional picnic at the end. We will paddle downstream towards the Farmington paddle launch, but will probably turn back around butternut creek unless the group is feeling ambitious (All the way to Farmington and back is about 10mi).

This is an easy L1, but there are not a lot of landing options between the two parks, so plan on having snacks or water you can grab while you paddle, in addition to a packed lunch if you want to hang out at the park for a little bit after.

* I am recommeding a shorty wetsuit or farmer Jane because the water is 60 degrees. Dress for immersion and your comfort, but please reach out if you have any questions. I don't want this recommendation to be a barrier for someone joining the trip.

Landing is not super easy for bio breaks so we will probably not take a break until we return to the dock. Should be a pretty nice day and warming up as we go, but be aware we are heading into cooler air and water temps and dress accordingly.
