Narrative::
I generally like paddling upstream first on Willamette River round-trip paddles, but in this case, the parking is so good at Cedaroak and the facilities are so nice for a turnaround break at Foothills Park, that it’s worth going downstream first. This is a six-mile round-trip paddle. We'll launch from Cedaroak Boat Launch in West Linn. There is path that goes down to the beach which requires carrying boats. You can use your wheels if you want to dock launch. We'll paddle downriver past Hog Island and George Rogers Park, then stop for a break at Foothills Park where there are picnic tables and bathrooms. It’s easiest to use the dock there, but it is possible to paddle up to the bank and scramble up to the grassy park. Please arrive around 9:30, and we'll launch at 10:00 a.m. We’ll likely be off the water by 3:00 p.m. at the very latest. Low tide should be around 12:30 p.m. The tide will rise about one foot as we make our way back upstream which may help offset the mild downstream current. Bring along a snack or lunch.
