Narrative:: Join me for my final mentored paddle under the tutelage of David Smith. This will be a gentle excursion down the calm waters of the Willamette River from Wilsonville Memorial Park to the Molalla River and back. We will launch from a floating dock that is roughly 800 feet from the parking area near the River Shelter at Wilsonville Memorial Park. Kayak wheels are recommended, but we will also team up to carry kayaks to the dock as needed. There is no kayak landing in the park. Getting in and out of a kayak from a dock may be challenging for some people. The TOs will be ready to advise and assist this process.

The paddle itself will be on calm water on what promises to be a beautiful day. We'll check out the confluence with the Molalla River and paddle upstream on the Molalla River for less than one mile unless the river is too shallow.. Eagles, Blue Heron, and sometimes deer may be spotted in the area.

Following that, we will have a lunch or snack on a sandy beach where the Molalla meets the Willamette before heading back toward Willsonville. The group will be invited to practice optional rescues and rolls, with supervision, near the boat dock in Wilsonville before we take kayaks out of the water.
