Activity Title:: Lake River to Warrior Rock
Date of Activity:: 7/19/2026
Narrative:: Join me for a beautiful paddle out Lake River to the Columbia River for my second mentored paddle. Lake River is a calm waterway that is part of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. The area has a large Blue Heron rookery and we may see nesting eagles and osprey along the way. We’ll pass many colorful handmade birdhouses along the route. Once we reach the Columbia River we’ll take a short break on a sandy beach to assess river conditions, including wind speed, boat and shipping traffic. From there we’ll head across the Columbia river toward Warrior Rock Lighthouse, which is a adjacent to a sandy beach where we’ll stop for lunch. While there you may want to check out the interesting murals on the lighthouse, practice kayak rescues near the beach, or take a swim in the Columbia.
