Full Name:: Ken Sund
Narrative:: Carpool with your fellow paddlers to a springtime Yaquina River upstream paddle. We will be assisted by tidal currents as we paddle upstream to the historic lumber town of Toledo. From Newport we will aim at arriving at or near high tide at or near Toledo then ride the ebb back to our launch site. As there is some distance between our two towns, this will not be a dilly dally paddle but one with a purpose and destination. A good opportunity to practice your most efficient forward stroke and burn calories. This paddle will be a workout. The longest fast kayak you have will be the best one to bring or borrow. If conditions don't favor us reaching Toledo, we will shorten the distance. There are toilets at the put in at the Newport Marina and also rinse out stations. If coming with a partner that doesn't paddle the Aquarium is nearby and also the Newport working waterfront is a lot of fun. Camping or staying locally might be a good idea as you will be tired from this paddle/adventure.

While counting on help with from the current, any opposing wind may thwart our speed. Like most paddles, this one can have elements of L-1 to L-4. L-1 and L-2 paddlers are encouraged to participate if you've done these distances before and are in good condition.
