Trip Organizer Candidates,

Consider taking this navigation class to support growing your trip leader skills.  The course goals focus on navigation for trip planning and trip implementation, specifically -  How to get where you want to go and return safely,  How you know where you are, Understanding potential hazards along the way, and Understanding potential aids to your travel.

Participants will engage with various navigation tools - navigation charts and compass and online tools and apps (NOAA charts, DeepZoom, Windy).  The class is broken up into two sessions: Day 1, March 21st, classroom instruction 9:30-2:30 held  at a private residence in Vancouver WA.  Day 2, March 28th, on-water instruction at Skamokawa, WA. Participants need to attend both sessions to gain full benefit of this class.

Day 1 Classroom Instruction: Participants are asked to bring a laptop or tablet, a handheld compass, and snacks and drinks.  Nautical charts will be provided.

Day 2 On-water Instruction: Participants will gear up for a typical Level 2 OOPS trip and bring along your compass, trip plan (created on Day 1), food and drinks.  NOTE: This OOPS navigation trip requires a separate registration (see email instructions from Education Director.)
