100TH OOPS DAY PADDLE OF THE YEAR !!!
Narrative:: Mayfield lake is a lovely body of water up in the Ike Kwanza State Park in Washington, about an hour and a half NE of Portland. We will put in at the Mayfield Lake Boat Ramp (Discover Pass or fee required), and paddle up the Tilton River, through a beautiful gorge, as far as currents allow. Then we'll head back, finding a place for bio breaks and snacks along the way. This is a mellow level 2 paddle, almost a level 1 - the distance is about six miles, and the currents are gentle (until they're not, lol).

Two things about the launch site: The turn to Mayfield Lake Boat Ramp is BEFORE the bridge crossing into the park - it's on Harmony Road, which is a turn to the the right just before the bridge. Also, since this is a State Park, a Discover Pass is required. You can buy a $10 one day pass - I know they sell them at the day use area, and I think at the boat ramp area as well. We help each other unload our boats at the boat ramp, then drive uphill a bit to the parking lot.

It will be cold, so please bring warm woolies for under your dry suit, and something warm to drink. It may also be raining, since after all this is Fall in the great Pacific Northwest. We should be fairly protected from winds while in the gorge, but just in case, if you have a tow line and are comfortable using it, please bring it along. Helmets are not required, although some folks like them in the rain, as they help them stay dry. Meetup time is 9:30, safety talk at 10 am, and launch time is 10:15 - if you require a few extra minutes to be ready (like I do), please arrive a few minutes early. There may not be any cell service.
