Full Name: Tom Waldron
Narrative: Are you interested in becoming more knowledgeable, confident and safer on the water? If so, this paddle may be for you.

The day will consist of discussions, demonstrations and a paddle.

We will start off with a very basic discussion on the following topics:
• How OOPS trips are planned
• Required and recommended equipment
• Group Conduct
• Weather and forecasts – see videos
• Tides and currents – see videos

Next will be demonstrations on:
• How to get in and out of your kayak – see videos
• An effective assisted rescue of another (both as rescuer and swimmer) – see videos
• Paddle float self-rescue – see videos
• Towing – see videos

Paddlers will be given the opportunity to participate on demonstrated techniques; all will be challenge by choice.

Last but not least, we’ll enjoy a 7 mile paddle from Cedar Oak to Tyron Cove Park RT.

The paddle is not meant to be topic comprehensive, but more of an introduction to assist in your development toward becoming a more informed and safer paddler. Videos and literature will be provided a few days before the paddle.
