Full Name:
Peter Bezwerchyj
Narrative:
This is the 2nd offering of this paddle on the South Coast event.
We will start at the Charleston Marina Boat Ramp, heading through a short stretch of commercial fishing boats and docks. Once we pass underneath the bridge, we enter the 4,770-acre South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, an amazing pristine area home to many different birds, seals and sea lions. This is a very tide dependent trip, we are planning on heading into the reserve on a flood tide before high tide to ensure that we have enough water to make it all the way into the reserve and out again. It’s not a difficult paddle but we will be negotiating some smaller channels at times. There are some good options to take a break along the trip. Charleston is about 22 miles south of Bandon.
Highly suggested equipment: Extra drinking water, sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses, long sleeve light color sun shirt (ie white rash-guard long sleeve compression shirt), and bug spray. Lunch and snacks.
