ull Name:
Dennis Pennell
Narrative:
This should be a spectacular tour of the rugged Oregon coast, with cliffs, coves, rocky islands, and sea animals. This is where I saw my first gray whale from a sea kayak on an OOPS trip years ago.
We will launch from the Port of Port Orford, Port 300 Dock Rd, Port Orford, OR 97465 Port Orford. Assuming suitable ocean conditions, we will head west and explore the shoreline of Tichenor Cove, Nellie's Cove, and Hell's Gate and Tichenor Rock. After that, we will assess the prudence of paddling east and south along the coast to Redfish Rocks Marine Reserve to explore the islands in the reserve.
Total distance including the Redfish Rocks portion is about 12-14 miles.
We will be paddling near a lot of rocks. Helmets required.
I have paddled the Port Orford area of this trip before. The Redfish Rocks portion will be exploratory.
Meeting time 10:00 AM at the launch site in Port Orford.
