Full Name:: Lori Stole
Narrative:: Join Jerry and me for a circumnavigation of Hayden Island that includes an exploration of the Vancouver riverfront. We’ll launch from Blurock Landing in Vancouver. We’ll cross the Columbia River before heading upriver along the Oregon shore, passing the end of the Willamette River/Kelley Point Park. We’ll follow along the south shore of Hayden Island, stopping for a break on the undeveloped west half of the island. From the east tip of Haydn Island we’ll turn north, paddle back across the Columbia River, and follow the Washington shoreline back to our launch point.
The tide will be ebbing all day so we’ll have to paddle against that on our way upstream but we’ll mitigate it by staying close to the shoreline. The ebb will provide current assist for our return to the launch.
Total distance 15.3 mi (13.3nm).

This is a fairly long distance so you'll want a boat at least 14’ long (longer is better), with skirt and perimeter lines. It’s winter: wear drysuits. Bring lunch. Hot beverage is encouraged. Bring all the usual safety gear: extra change of clothes, first-aid and repair kits, etc.

You may want to have wheels for the launch. I have not been to this launch site before.
Parking is free. There is not a bathroom

Arrive by 8:30. Be prepared for launch and ready for a shoretalk at 9:15. We'll launch at 9:30.
