Bachelor Island, clockwise. Ridgefield Washington. Put in at Lake River Ridgefield, Kayak Launch. First proceed north on Lake River. Then turning south on the Bachelor Island Slough. Paddle with the tide, down to the Columbia River. Then we will proceed north on the Columbia River, with the river current helping push us along, down river. Stopping for lunch at about 11:30 am. Lunch location will be a small protected cove, sandy beach, half way up Bachelor Island. After lunch we shall continue down the Columbia River. At about 1:00 PM, plan on stopping for our last break at the confluence of the Columbia River & Lake River. There is a small sandy beach on the north side of Lake River. After our break we shall proceed south on Lake river, with the tide, back to our put in. Dry suit shall be required. This is a Level 2 trip. Wet exit certification is required. Spray skirts must be worn at all times. Neoprene gloves and hood shall be required gear to have with you. It is highly recommended that you wear a hood & gloves. It is highly encouraged for you to wet test your dry suit. Also, to self-asses if you have enough insulation under your dry suit. The water will be extremely cold. Water temperature is 49 deg F. Be sure to have adequate layers of insulation. Weather for Sunday is rain. Air temperature forecast 41 to 47 deg F. Bring a lunch & consider a thermos with something hot. Extra & spare set of clothing, in dry bags. Be prepared so that we can have maximum fun.
