Enjoy a leisurely paddle, wildlife pictures, & lunch. (Starting at Scappoose Bay / Next Adventure, purposefully mellow paddle, taking turns as lead paddler. The lead paddlers get to take turns taking some great wildlife photos of Scappoose Bay. The bay is home to many creatures like Blue Heron, Osprey, Egret, Cormorant, & Bald Eagles. We will be paddling out with the tide. We will paddle the east side of the bay, in the lagoon, when possible, towards Sand Island. This area is very tidal. The lagoon is currently active with nesting Bald Eagles. You will get to see the wildlife taking advantage of the low tide and easy access to their food. Paddling down to the confluence of Scappoose Bay & Multnomah Channel. Then onto the confluence of Multnomah Channel & the Columbia River. From there our intention is to paddle around the east side of Sand Island, then up the west side of Sand Island, stopping for a long lunch at the midpoint of Sand Island. Going around Sand Island will be very wind dependent. We will assess as a group, when we reach the Columbia River, the path that we continue on with. After lunch we will head back to our put in. This time traveling the west shoreline. Our trip back, we will have a tidal push.

Dry suit shall be required. This is a Level 2 trip. Wet exit certification is required. Spray skirts must be worn at all times. Neoprene gloves and hood shall be required gear to have with you. We shall wet test & burp our dry suits. Also, self-assessment if you have enough insulation under your dry suit. Bring a lunch & consider a thermos with something hot. Extra & spare set of clothing, in dry bags. Be prepared so that we can have maximum fun.
