Whether you are new to traditional paddling, want to tune up some skills, or are just curious, this is the trip for you! Everyone will use traditional paddles. We'll have both Greenland and Aleut paddles you can use or bring one of your own.

Kayaks were developed by Native Greenlanders and other Arctic Nations to stalk, hunt, and gather food. This trip will bring us back to these roots. We'll gather ocean and land wild foods and prepare our feast afterwards.

We'll put in at the Garibaldi Kayak launch then paddle up to Three Graces. We'll set crab traps on the way. We will stop to gather food on the rocks exposed near Three Graces. We'll also practice strokes and maneuvers. After we return to the launch, we'll cook our catch.

N.B. The Sea Spirits can be fickle. There is no guarantee we'll be successful on our hunt. In any event, we'll learn and have fun together.

Everyone 12 years and older needs a license to harvest shellfish. Licenses are available for a day or a full-year and can be purchased online, from an ODFW license agents or at an ODFW office that sells licenses. This is your responsibility. You risk a hefty fine if you do not have a license.
