OOPS Potluck, Salmon bake and Gear Swap

September 23rd, 12:00 - 6:00ish at Vancouver Lake

OOPS has reserved the Heron Picnic Shelter at Vancouver Lake to celebrate another fine season of paddling. We'll start the day with a series of morning trips ending at Vancouver Lake (see separate listings on the OOPS calendar). NC Kayaks from Tacoma will be demonstrating their boats, your fellow OOPS members will be swapping gear and Michael Kipley will be grilling salmon (possibly fresh wild caught coho from the San Juan Islands!!)  to go with your potluck contribution.

Gear Swap in a "Flea Market" style

  • Bring your stuff, labeled with your name and price
  • Claim a spot on the lawn near the shelter. Bring a blanket if you want to put your things on something.
  • You (or a buddy) are responsible for your stuff
  • Use cash, check, or have a venmo account for payments
  • There will be a “take it or leave it” pile. Consider making a donation to the club.


Potluck and Salmon Bake

  • Salmon Bake by Grill Master Michael Kipley
  • Potluck: Choose a category when you register to indicate what you will bring: appetizers, salads/sides, desserts, or a surprise. Bring enough to serve eight people.
  • OOPS will provide plates/utensils and non-alcoholic cans of bubbly water/soda
  • Sorry, alcohol not allowed by Parks Department


T-Shirt Sales and Membership Renewal

Purchase an OOPS t-shirt. Renew your membership. All at one convenient table.

Other Details:

  • Paddles will appear in separate calendar listings
  • Non-member guests are welcome
  • Tons of parking: $3.00 per car at entrance
  • Shelter is one-half mile from lake front
  • The registration fee covers costs for the shelter, beverages, and other supplies.
