Let’s Talk about 2024 OOPS Events ….. and beyond

Come hear about the 2024 Events already in the works!!! What’s your “not to miss” part of an event? What’s your “I’d eliminate/change this” aspect? Are you interested in attending a planning session early this coming year for 2025 eventsWhat are your top 3 places for an OOPS event in 2025 or beyond?

Let’s Talk About Books

OOPS has a fairly extensive library of books, charts and DVDs. Have you “joined” the free Librarika system? Checked out any of the titles/charts/DVDs? Is it important for OOPS to have a library resource? What are your ideas for making it more useable? Are you interested in taking over the librarian position?

Janell Niemann-Ross has been canoeing since college and kayaking since carpal tunnel surgery allowed her to paddle for more than 15 minutes at a time. She carved her beloved Greenland paddle in 2017 in a Don Beale class. Since joining OOPS that same year, she’s loved exploring beyond the Willamette River. OOPS has opened up so many areas she never would have gone on her own and introduced her to many fine friends. Organizing the logistics on family vacations has always been loads of fun for her and so taking on the Events Director position seemed a good fit. She currently houses the OOPS library and manages the catalog/check out program but would be happy to pass this OOPS job on to someone else.

FYI She's the Ross and Mark the Niemann. They’re coming up on their 39th anniversary and still like each other quite a bit. Their latest collaboration was Janell narrating Mark's novel “Stupid Machine” - Multnomah County Library awarded it a “Local Author” pick early this Summer and purchased the audiobook this week!

We're back to meeting in person and also online! You asked for options so we're going do our best to keep making that happen.  When you click to register you'll see you can select from in-person or virtual meeting participation.   Both formats are subject to tech issues so please be patient with your all volunteer team making these and all OOPS activities possible.   Please register for the format you'll be using so we can have a sense of how many folks to expect in either location.

Joining from home?  We'll open the zoom room at 6:30 for casual conversation and themed breakout rooms for smaller discussions.  We'll start with the main presentation at 7:00 and wrap up around 8:00 ish.  If you want to join this way you MUST register at least 24 hours in advance or risk not receiving the link to join the meeting.

Joining from the Multnomah Village Lucky Lab? We'll be ready for you to join us upstairs at 6:00 for social time.  This is also your time to grab a slice and a beverage (bring your $$,  this is a no-host situation). We'll start with the main presentation at 7:00 and wrap up around 8:00 ish.
