Comments and Discussion
This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification (except for level 1 trips when the paddler is not using a spray skirt....if the paddler is wearing a spray skirt on a level 1 paddle, the Wet Exit Certification is REQUIRED). To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group if you intend to wear a spray skirt. Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment. If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.

Narrative: Please join me on my 3rd TO Mentored trip. We will launch from Willamette Park, Portland and head up stream. It is a nice long stretch of flat water, that we can paddle, chat and take in the sites. The salmon fisherman will probably be out on the water, we might see a Willamette spring chinook being caught. We will head up stream and cross over to the east side of the river near the Waverley Golf Club. From there we will continue up past the Milwaukee boat launch and we can explore the back side channel of Elk Rock to see if there is enough water to accommodate our Kayaks. Then we can land our boats and have some lunch. After lunch we will paddle upstream a short ways and then cross back to the west side to look for the peregrine falcons that nest in the cliffs across from Elk Rock. Then we will head home, exploring the water on the edges of the channel. This trip is limited to boats 12ft and up.
