  • Active club members, including kayaking professional and lifetime. Provisional acceptance, pending approval by the trip organizer if this is a paddle.

Registration is closed

This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification (except for level 1 trips when the paddler is not using a spray skirt....if the paddler is wearing a spray skirt on a level 1 paddle, the Wet Exit Certification is REQUIRED).  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group if you intend to wear a spray skirt.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.

Members on the waitlist cannot be added to the roster or notified they are now eligible to attend unless your registration is removed from the trip. Narrative: Looking for an easy warm-up paddle to start the season? Want to get outside for a great view and exercise? Have new equipment or are recovering from an injury and want to test how paddling feels? This kayaking trip is for you! Come join us on beautiful Lacamas Lake in Camas, Washington for a 5 mile (total) boat trip to warm-up your kayaking skills. It is going to be a beautiful spring day! We will paddle the length of Lacamas Lake and stop for lunch in view of majestic Mt. Hood. On the way back we'll participate in some easy paddle play and paddle skill activities. Those who want to practice rescues can do so near the takeout, so you don't have to worry about getting cold. This trip has something for everyone! Bring your towline and helmet if you want to work on towing and/or rescue skills. Wear warm clothes under your dry suit and bring warm food and drinks –although it is spring, the water and air are still chilly.

Paddling Environment:
Overall rating: Level 1
Rating Comments: This is a solid L1 trip, and the estimated wind speeds are well within the L1
category. However, I will be mindful of unpredicted wind. This is a very narrow lake (about 1/2 mile across, and winds typically go east to west - across the width of the lake and not the length of the lake). That means there is little "fetch" expected when we paddle.
