Full Name: Chris Mayou Activity Title: Planning a Flatwater Trip in Oregon or Washington Date of Activity: 8/29/2022 Learn about various resources available for planning a day-trip or multi-day kayak trip in Oregon or Washington. Extensive time will be spent practicing trip planning utilizing online resources, especially NOAA, USGS, and state websites. Our focus will be Orcas Island and the Columbia River. You must bring a wi-fi capable computer or tablet. Registrants will be required to print (in advance) several letter-sized full-color charts and a course outline for the class which I will send in pdf and WORD format. Prerequisite: you must have attended one of my Beginning Navigation classes. This class will be held at my home in Silverton. We will either be outside on a porch or patio, or we’ll be inside with windows open. In either case, “distancing” will not necessarily be possible. Please bring a lunch for our 45-minute lunch break. We’ll start at 9 a.m. and end whenever we complete the exercises--3 p.m. at the latest. Coffee provided.
