Registration

  • Active club members, including kayaking professional and lifetime. Provisional acceptance, pending approval by the trip organizer if this is a paddle

This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification (except for level 1 trips when the paddler is not using a spray skirt....if the paddler is wearing a spray skirt on a level 1 paddle, the Wet Exit Certification is REQUIRED).  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group if you intend to wear a spray skirt.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.

Activity Title: Lake Billy Chinook Event,  Chinook Island L2, 5-13-22
Date of Activity: 5/13/2022
Narrative: This paddle will be part of the OOPS Lake Billy Chinook Weekend. We will launch from the Perry South boat ramp and paddle down the Metolius Arm to Chinook Island (4.4 miles one way) where we will have lunch (a dock, toilets, and picnic tables are provided). If the weather permits and people are interested in a longer paddle, we will continue 2 miles further down the Metolius Arm to Big Canyon before returning to Perry South. Although this will be a lake paddle with no appreciable current, the Metolius Arm is subject to brisk winds--the level 2 maximum of 12 knots is possible. This would most likely be an opposing wind for the return trip. Paddlers should be capable of paddling in high level 2 conditions and paddling against a 12 knot wind for half the trip. If such winds come up by lunch time we will not paddle the extension to Big Canyon.
