Registration

  • Active club members, including kayaking professional and lifetime. Provisional acceptance, pending approval by the trip organizer if this is a paddle

Registration is closed
  • This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification (except for level 1 trips when the paddler is not using a spray skirt....if the paddler is wearing a spray skirt on a level 1 paddle, the Wet Exit Certification is REQUIRED).  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group if you intend to wear a spray skirt.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.

Activity Title: Greenland Kayaking III - Teaching Greenland Rolling
Date of Activity: 8/6/2021
Narrative: Class III in the Greenland Kayaking series - This class is for those who wish to learn how to teach Greenland rolling.

We will give precedence to those who also would like to attend SSTIKS Sept 9-12. If you take this class, you can attend SSTIKS as a mentor. You will be able to continue your training as an apprentice rolling instructor. You can also take the regular classes when you are not working with a rolling instructor. You will be eligible for the mentor rate at SSTIKS. See more here http://qajaqpnw.org.

N.B. This class assumes you know how to roll and genuinely want to learn how to teach rolling. You do not need to be a Greenland paddler though we will use Greenland paddles. What you learn will be transferable to any paddle. We will cover student safety as well as teaching techniques.

Very Important - Because we will be in close contact during this event, you must be vaccinated to attend. No exceptions. We're trusting that those in the OOPS family will respect this condition.
