Narrative: Join me for a paddle up the Columbia River to the Franz Lake Nat'l Wildlife Refuge in Washington. We'll launch from Dalton Point on the Oregon shoreline and cross over to Washington's shoreline. From there we'll paddle upstream viewing Multnomah Falls from across the river, passing St Cloud's old apple orchard and finally arriving at the refuge about 4.5 miles upriver. Once there, we'll take out for lunch and then head back downriver, again staying on the Washington side avoiding the shipping channel along the Oregon side. This is a very scenic area of the Gorge and should provide us a fun day on the water. Total distance for the day will be approximately 9-10 miles. Note that Dalton Point is only accessible from I-84 West at exit #29. There are no parking fees and restrooms are available.
