Registration

  • Active club members, including kayaking professional and lifetime. Provision acceptance pending approval of the trip organizer.

Registration is closed

This trip is limited to members with a wet exit certification.  To successfully register you will need to sign into your OOPS member account, and your account will need to be a member of the "Wet Exit Certified" group.  Your acceptance is conditional on approval by the Organizer, who may contact you with questions about your skills and equipment.  If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will contact all participants and the Trips Board member with the update at least a day before the trip.

Narrative: We'll paddle down Scappoose Creek to the Multnomah channel. Once we can view the Columbia river, depending on conditions we'll either cross the channel to Sand Island or follow the Sauvie Island shore to Warrior Lighthouse. We'll eat a socially distant lunch at a sandy beach, look for eagles and enjoy OOPster camaraderie. Length of the paddle will be 7-8 miles. We'll return no later than 2:30 PM.

Meet at Scappoose Bay Paddle Center at 8:45 am and be ready for the OOPS pre-paddle talk at 9:30 am. Park in the kayak unloading area where we will help each other carry boats down to the dock launch. You'll need to purchase a parking permit for $3.00 and park in the upper lot.

We will be strictly following OOPS Covid -19 guidelines found at https://www.oopskayak.org/Documents. Please remember: Masks, hand sanitizer, toiletries, etc. Tip: store mask in zip lock in PFD.
