L2 Paddle Sunshine Coast - South Thormanby Island from Brooks Road

If the measured water temperature is different enough from that listed below to warrant a change in required immersion protection, the Organizer will communicate change to all participants before the trip.

Narrative: The plan is to leave camp at 7:30, arrive at the Brooks Road launch site by 8:00, and be on the water by 8:30, so that we avoid thermal winds that sometimes develop in the afternoon. We will paddle into Halfmoon Bay, then make a crossing of Welcome Passage (less than 1 mile) over to the east side of S Thormanby Island, heading for north of Lemberg Point. Next, we paddle south along the east coast enjoying Simson Marine Provincial Park, including exploration of a reported beaver lodge, but going no further than Dennis Head or Bertha Island. We return back on the same route, pushed along on the return by thermal winds. The Trip to Dennis Head and back would be 10 miles, taking no more than 6 hours, making take-out at 2:30. If the wind looks to be picking up too much while paddling S on S Thormanby, we will turn around and start our return earlier.
