I'm going to look up the cabin campsites today. Let you all know what's available.

I'm really excited about this trip!  I had to cancel my plans to paddle the Cascade lakes with KP last summer because of the downsizing at Intel, so have been wanting to paddle there ever since.

We reserved site 117.  My wife Robin is joining me, but she won't be paddling.

Today's the day to make reservations that start on Monday, June 18th.  I got site 123, which I like because it backs up to the hiking trail and river, and other OOPSters got 125, 143 and 144.  Let us know which site YOU get!

Register beginning 9/14/2017 for a four- or five-day 2018 Central Oregon Kayaking extravaganza. Plan to arrive on Monday, June 18, 2018 and we’ll paddle Tuesday through Friday..   This will be a collection of Level 1 trips. There will likely be only one trip per day.  You’ll sign up for the actual OOPS paddle trips later, but by registering on the calendar for the "non-Event," you’ll know if you should go ahead and reserve your own campsite or lodging.  Please only register once you know that there is a very high likelihood that you will attend.  State campgrounds open registrations nine months in advance, so you can reserve a camp site beginning Sept. 18, 2017.   This extravaganza has been planned for mid-week because the lakes we visit should have fewer visitors then.  The Central Oregon waterways are a treat—clear water, fresh air, spectacular views.  It’s easy to see why people fall in love with Central Oregon. I expect that there will be about six Trip Organizers for these trips.  Registration will be limited to 21 total people, including Trip Organizers (three pods of seven paddlers).

I will be camping at La Pine State Park, and I hope you’ll reserve your own site there, too. The park is along the Deschutes River and features access to miles of relatively flat hiking and biking trails.  The campground is near Sunriver and all its amenities, as well as less than an hour from Sparks and Hosmer Lakes and less than 30 minutes from the other two waterways we’ll likely paddle.  PLEASE USE THIS FORUM OR YOUR OWN INFORMAL NETWORKS TO FIND PEOPLE TO SHARE A CAMPSITE WITH.  I would suggest making your reservations early.  What do you have to risk but an $8 reservation fee?    I plan to reserve a site in the North Loop (Sites 100-148).  All the North Loop sites are large and have electrical hookups.   The other two loops have full-hookups, so they will attract more RVs.  Cabins are available in the South Loop.  Looking for something even more plush?  Rent a house in Sunriver.
